What is the difference between Life Assurance and Life insurance? Life insurance is one of those peculiar insurances that when it is taken out, it is with the hope that it's never required. The Life Insurance company will only pay out on this policy on the death of the insured person within a specified time period.
Life Assurance means you are assured that the policy will pay out upon death as it is a Whole of Life insurance policy.
Different types of Life Insurance:
Level Term Insurance. This will pay a specified amount that will be paid upon the death of the policy holder if they die within the term of the policy.
Decreasing Term Insurance. Like Term Insurance but designed to run along side a repayment mortgage. The sum insured will decrease each month and will pay out enough to cover the mortgage in the event of death within the term of the policy
Critical Illness Insurance. Again Like Term Insurance but this will pay out if you suffer one of the defined Critical Illness's such as a stroke or a heart attack. These are generally more expensive as you are more likely to live after suffering on of the included medical conditions
Whole of Life. Does what it says on the box.. Covers you until you die, provided you keep paying the premiums.
These are the four most common types of life insurance along with many more. They can gererally be mixed and matched to suit your individual needs.
